Information For Medical Providers

Women are eligible to participate in the ASPIRE cohort:

• If their pregnancy is 4-10 weeks along (gestation).

• All SART member clinics have been sent information about ASPIRE to share with their pregnant patients, directing patients to self-refer at this website.

NO. ASPIRE is enrolling a prospective cohort of pregnant women to follow throughout their pregnancy, regardless of prior infection or exposure.

No – UCSF IRB has given permission for you to refer a patient and send her contact information as long as she has agreed to send her contact information to us.

No. However, if you would like to, you may document this in the medical record. Here is a template form you can use to indicate your patient has given permission to share her information.

After you refer a patient, the ASPIRE study team will reach out to provide information and enroll her into the study.  You will not have to collect any additional information from your patient who enrolled in this study. 

We will ask the patient to sign an authorization to release medical records. We will contact your office to assist us in obtaining relevant medical record information.

We will present and publish our findings as our analyses progress. After the initial analyses, we intend for ASPIRE data to be an open source resource for advancing scientific knowledge, women’s health and infant development broadly. This is a collaborative effort.
